Operation: Keep Baby In! (Feb 4th, 2011)

And as everyone's lives moved along, four years ago Michael and I sat and counted down day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute as we prayed for the health and safe development of our baby.

In addition to being separated from our first love, prepped for the OR numerous times, catching the belly bug on bed rest, receiving countless blood transfusions and being attached to a bed pan, somehow we had been successful in 'Keeping Baby In" for an additional twelve days after being admitted to the hospital. We were celebrating - even with such a tremendous hurdle ahead...

I posted the following four years ago today...

We are overwhelmed and feel so blessed with the flood of calls, prayers, cards, flowers, well-wishes and love you are sending. Words cannot thank you enough for the support and encouragement.

Today we are 26 weeks and 5 days (a goal that seemed a long shot when we entered the hospital two weeks ago). Both Mama and baby are stable and continue to count the hours, hoping for more.

It has been quite a roller-coaster, as things seems to change without warning and fast, but a handful of quiet days is more than we could ask for. No news is the best news.

Sincere thanks again for the calls and prayers and special offers to help with Nash. We have been blessed with very loving grandparents that are snuggling him, while we cannot.

Restrictions have been lifted and visitors are allowed again. We may even be granted a wheelchair ride tomorrow. As of now, there are no plans for us to go home. Sweet Baby Richter could arrive between now and our original due date - May 9th.

We've been forced to shop for baby names early this time. Some of our favorite suggestions from our nurses include:
ChosenJuan
Shithead (pronounced "sha-theed"
La-a (pronounced LaDasha) "the dash don't be silent"

Clearly, we are still shopping...

Thanks again for your prayers. We believe they are working.

Candace, Michael, Nash and Sweet Baby Richter
